Apple's new patent can use the ultrasonic haptic technology to make virtual reality into reality

The US Patent and Trademark Office has officially granted Apple a patent on the haptic output components that produce ultrasonic sound waves. The 11,347,312 US patents granted to Apple show a piece of equipment that can be used on a controller or a head-mounted display to give users a haptic response using ultrasonic sound waves while playing games or interacting with objects.

As a copyright, Apple's haptic sound waves may allow users to feel the rain, the breeze, or the sensation of actual reality or mixed real estate with its long-range AR / VR headset.

The AR / VR headsets available in the market do not provide a haptic response, which is an influential factor in developing a fundamental feature in real-world object information. A patent application from Apple suggests it seeks to resolve this issue by using ultrasonic haptic sound waves on AR / VR headsets.

Ultrasonic haptic sound waves may bring the metaverse closer to reality.

Companies like Meta, Nvidia, Epic Games, Microsoft, Roblox Corporation, and others are investing billions of dollars in hybrid and virtual reality technology. These companies are using new metaverse-focused hardware and software to create a free and seamless metaverse experience.

It’s not just the big tech giants like Apple, California-based startup, Emerge works on devices that use ultrasonic waves to create a sense of touch. According to the company, its Wave-1 tablet panel puts ultrasonic waves into the air. If the user moves his or her hand near or in front of the panel while interacting with any visual object, you will receive a haptic response.

According to the report, 78% of users miss the ability to physically communicate with people in the physical world. Suppose, if Apple and other companies bring ultrasonic haptic sound waves to their head-on display, the haptic response may be a key pillar of social interaction in the physical world.
