Infinix recently announced its 180W
Thunder Charge Technology which is set to launch on the Infinix flagship phones
in the second half of the year. This 180W high-speed charging technology from
the product can shake a 4,500mAh battery from 1 to 50 percent in just four
minutes. Bringing the fastest charging speed is a rage among Android OEMs today
and we’ve already seen smartphones touch the 150W brand. Infinix is now
expanding to 180W soon.
In a press conference on Thursday,
Infinix said its 180W Thunder Charge uses 8C charging batteries unlike many
other smartphones using 1 to 3C batteries. The 8C rating reduces the battery
temperature due to faster charging technology, the company said. Additionally,
the 180W Thunder Charge uses two 8C standard batteries in the series, so each
battery only charges at 90W which lowers the temperature and prolongs life.
Infinix says the 180W Thunder Charge
technology has 111 software and hardware security features to protect
smartphones, chargers, and charging cables. The temperature sensors on the
charging technology board ensure that the smartphone temperature is kept below
43-degree Celcius.
In addition to charging future
Infinix phones at 180W, the charging adapter also comprises a number of fast
charging procedures to deliver up to 100W charging to other phones, tablets,
and laptops.
Remarkably, the 180W fast charging
solution from Infinix comes with two charging modes - Fired mode and standard
mode. The former is charging the device at 180W while the latter may bring
unpredictable slow charging speeds. Infinix will launch the flagship phones
that support this new 180W Thunder Charge technology in the second half of
2022.
